Tasked with designing an amenity space for an apartment complex formerly occupied by the Virginian-Pilot newsroom, Baskervill’s interior designers took cues from the historic daily newspaper. Delineated into distinct “departments,” coworking and lounge areas—affectionately termed as the “Copy Desk” and “Lifestyles Editor” zones—are utilitarian yet dynamic with color and texture. From preserving the original printing press to hand-selecting decorative books, each accessory nods to “Hot Type” and the bustling energy of a periodical. Lighting, fabric, and art all serve to infuse the common areas with a thoroughly cohesive brand.
