When it came time for VHB to relocate to a new location, the civil engineering firm sought to unify its Virginia Beach and Williamsburg operations within a dynamic downtown environment offering convenient I-64 access. The new 12,500-square-foot office reflects Richmond’s character through carefully curated patterns and colors, creating a workspace that is both functional and inspiring. At its heart, the entry and reception area—aptly named “The Pantry”—overlooks the courtyard, encouraging collaboration and connectivity among team members.
Designed to support a modern workstyle, the office features a café, a spacious conference room, private offices, a lounge, and phone rooms—balancing productivity, comfort, and community. In addition to fulfilling VHB’s operational goals, the space showcases the leasing potential of the James Center through its thoughtful integration of design and function. CBT led the design vision, with Baskervill serving as Architect of Record.
