The rapid growth of VCU’s College of Engineering led the university to engage Baskervill and design partner Goody Clancy for the design of a new Engineering Research Building. Envisioned as a space where researchers and graduate students can engage in creative collisions, strengthening team-driven leadership for entrepreneurial and translational research and experiential learning, the 133,000 SF building will include laboratories, innovation maker facilities, and flexible collaboration spaces. Currently in design, the building is slated for completion in 2020 and will be sited adjacent to the existing Engineering East Hall at the corner of Cary and Belvidere Streets. The team of Baskervill + Goody Clancy completed the planning study for this project in late 2015.
