When the Chesterfield Economic Development Authority revealed plans to transform a shopping mall into a lively 60-acre mixed-use community called Springline at District 60, Timmons Group sought more than just an engineering role. As the region’s largest engineering and technology company, Timmons Group decided to relocate and enhance their headquarters to reflect their commitment to growth, talent retention, innovation, and environmentally conscious development for their 400 Richmond-based employees.
Employing a program-driven approach, the design collaboration entailed numerous charettes and brainstorming sessions that influenced layout and material selection. The design features ample office spaces and collaborative zones adorned with a light and airy material palette. Special attention is given to coffee/break areas and collaborative teaming zones, strategically placed for easy access while eliminating disruption to open office spaces. The reflected ceiling plan introduces a contrasting ceiling around the central circulation area, with modern lighting installations thoroughly placed not only to illuminate but also to delineate purposeful zones. Design and integrated technologies are strategically implemented to facilitate future growth within the existing square footage.
