Known as ‘The Founding Father of Jackson Ward’, Abraham Peyton Skipwith became the Virginia neighborhood’s first Black homeowner in 1793. The JXN Haus will resurrect his historic homestead as part of The JXN Project. One part monument, one part innovation hub, the reestablished cottage and community center will honor the life, lineage, and legacy of Abraham Peyton Skipwith while laying the blueprint for the future of Black entrepreneurship in Jackson Ward.
