A central undercurrent of Delta Richmond’s design is a modern take on nature’s physical impact, stemming from the hotel’s place along the fall line of the James River. There, centuries of flowing water on exposed rocks have carved out and reshaped the sediment, textures, and colors of the surrounding landscape—delineating the mountains from the tidal plains. This fall line not only marks a change in geography, but the region’s overall climate, lifestyle, culture, and history. An embodiment of nature and a celebration of Richmond’s spirit and palpable diversity is achieved through thoughtful layering of materials (stone, glass, wood, and metal), with a grounding palette of neutrals. Rich colors as accents offset this base, complemented by a variety of textures— from polished to rough-hewn.
