Led by international icon and Olympic Gold Medalist Dot Richardson, Liberty University’s softball program needed to construct a state-of-the-art stadium. Baskervill worked with TMP Architecture and design-build partner Branch and Associates to complete this 1,000-seat, 30,000-sf softball stadium designed to meet NCAA Division 1 Women’s Fast Pitch Softball super-regional standards. The stadium features support areas under the stands, including locker rooms and team meeting rooms; public facilities and concessions on the concourse level; and a full pressbox and private suite. Coach offices are located on the second level, overlooking the synthetic turf field and dirt infield. A cantilevered roof shades spectators from the sun while providing support for the safety netting behind home plate and along the base lines. The project was fast-track, with design completed in four months and construction in eight.
