Designed to mimic the lively energy of the Boy Scouts, the new Center for Scouting will feature an indoor treehouse, rock-climbing wall, interactive camping store, and outdoor amphitheater. In addition, the scouting center will house office space for the council’s full-time employees, training rooms for adult scouts and volunteers, and a banquet hall for ceremonies and events. The building’s exterior is closely tied to its natural surroundings. The building is nestled into and wraps around a sloping hillside, and the materials that will be used—including stone and wood—evoke rugged shelters found along the Appalachian Trail.
