As part of a LEED campus project, Baskervill was hired to design a parking deck with ADD Inc. of Cambridge, MA that would fit in well with CarMax’s headquarters and fitness center. Part of the charge was to create a minimally-intrusive structure that would link to the office building via pedestrian bridge.
This 4-level, 999-space garage shares foundations and circulation with the large employee recreation center built along with the garage. The gray perforated-metal screen wall on the south allows light and visibility but gently screens the cars from view. As with the office structure, the deck has a minimal footprint on the site. Together, the complex achieved LEED Silver certification. The project was completed under a design-build contract with KBS Inc.
