Located in downtown Roanoke’s industrial district, Big Lick Brewing is part of a comprehensive neighborhood revitalization effort that brought a variety of housing and retail options to a swath of formerly abandoned buildings. Once a 100-year-old warehouse, Baskervill worked with the developer to completely overhaul the interior and exterior of this 100-year-old former warehouse, transforming the 6,000-square-foot barrel-vaulted shed into the Star City’s first nano brewery. This is our team’s fifth revitalization project in the neighborhood, including 416 Micro Farms, Fulton Motor Lofts, and the Lofts at West Station 1 & 2. By taking cues from the original historic fabric, the design team was able to bring these buildings into the modern world and create a cohesive community in the city’s downtown.
