This year marks the close of two extraordinary chapters at Baskervill as Principals Bob Tierney and Terri Callaway announce their retirement. Together, their combined 44 years of dedication, creativity, and leadership have helped define Baskervill’s reputation for innovative, experience-driven hospitality design.
Decades of Design Excellence
On location collaboration
For Bob, architecture has always been an act of exploration—a search for the line between imagination and experience. Over his 25 years at Baskervill, he has transformed that search into a legacy of spaces that wow clients and visitors through both form and function.
His international portfolio of hotels such as AC Hotel Kingston, Moxy Virginia Beach Oceanfront, and Beaches Negril reflect how architecture can enhance efficiency, guest comfort, and placemaking all at once. With a sketchbook always within reach, Bob approached every project as both artist and strategist, elevating the role of architecture through tenacious curiosity.

Beyond his project work, Bob has been a champion for design education and community engagement, lending his expertise to the Virginia Commonwealth University Architectural Review Committee, AIA Richmond Chapter, and the Venture Richmond Architectural Review Board. Adaptive reuse projects such as the Tredegar Iron Works Company Store and Daisy’s at Tredegar exemplify his commitment to promoting design excellence in his local community. Because of this and so much more, his influence extends far beyond the firm’s walls—into classrooms, boardrooms, and cities shaped by his reserved yet powerful leadership.

Terri’s career has been defined by precision, creativity, and mentorship. Over three decades in architecture, including 19 years at Baskervill, she became a guiding force for technical excellence and team development. Known across the firm as a go-to expert in codes, construction methods, and documentation, Terri built her reputation on the belief that great design requires a strong foundation.
That conviction guided her nine years on Baskervill’s Board of Directors and six years as Chair of the Standards and Process Committee, as well as her service beyond the firm—including chairing her neighborhood Architectural Review Board, contributing to the Meadowbrook Country Club building committee, and serving as an architectural panelist and judge for the 2025 AIA Illinois Awards.

Her portfolio spans the country—from The Ven at Embassy Row and Cumberland House Knoxville, Tapestry Collection to her most recent work on AC Hotel Sacramento. Lending her expertise across many sectors of the firm, she’s demonstrated how efficient project management and creative ambition can work hand-in-hand to deliver experiences that meet even the most rigorous project goals.
But Terri’s impact shines far beyond the job site. She has mentored countless young architects, including through the Women Architects and Engineers mentorship group—a quarterly, cross-studio gathering and ongoing Microsoft Teams chat founded in 2015 where women across all levels of the firm support each other through problem-solving and encouragement.

Her insistence on clarity, empathy, and partnership has shaped not only how projects are designed at Baskervill, but also how people grow.
Ask. Listen. Inspire.
Together, Bob and Terri represent two sides of a shared vision: that design is most powerful when it elevates the people it’s designed for as well as the people who designed it. While their projects within the Hospitality Studio pushed the practice from regional contributor to national leader, their true legacies endure in the processes, sketches, and inspired designers they leave behind. The next generation of hospitality leaders at Baskervill will continue to carry forward the lessons they taught: to listen deeply, solve problems creatively, and design with passion.
Please join us in wishing them well as they settle into their well-earned retirement at year’s end.
