What’s Old is New Again

With renovations to Virginia Military Institute’s historic Cormack and Cocke Halls well underway, project manager and architect Jay Woodburn, AIA, gives us a construction tour in the video below that touches on the importance of preservation, modernization, and sustainable strategies.

The project, which is aiming for LEED Silver certification, reprograms the space for the Post’s modern needs, all while upgrading the building systems and restoring the historic facades.

Sound complex? You bet. It’s a complicated balancing act that Jay, alongside teammates from VMI and Sustainable Design Consulting, will discuss today in a session at the Environment Virginia Symposium.
