RICHMOND, VA (May 28, 2013) – Baskervill and Burt Pinnock, AIA, founding principal of BAM Architects, are joining forces.
The move is a natural, yet innovative, strategic merger between two of the most highly respected design talents in the region. Located in Richmond, Virginia, Baskervill and BAM collaborated on numerous projects in recent years.
Burt Pinnock, AIA, will transition into a role as principal at Baskervill. "BAM Architects opened with a mission to help build a better Richmond. In collaboration with our clients and our community, BAM made meaningful contributions in this regard," said Burt Pinnock. "I look forward to continuing this mission and existing client relationships with my team, while being able to offer more bandwidth, a broader spectrum of services, and increasing our geographic reach as a part of Baskervill's team," stated Pinnock.
The result is a highly acclaimed, national, 100-person powerhouse design firm comprised of architects, MEP engineers, interior designers, urban planners, BIM experts, building envelope specialists, specification writers, and support personnel. Combined, they offer 130 years of design expertise for a healthy list of developer, government agency, non-profit, and Fortune 500 clients, including: GSA, Capital One, Virginia Commonwealth University, Virginia Tech, Markel, Marriott International, Canon Virginia, University of Virginia Health System, City of Richmond, and the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Pinnock has served on numerous panels, boards, and commissions, including the City of Richmond's Urban Design Committee, Commission of Architectural Review and Board of Zoning Appeals, and the Richmond Renaissance Advisory Committee. He was selected as a peer reviewer for the National Endowment of the Arts and is a GSA Peer Reviewer. Prior to forming BAM, he was a design architect with Baskervill and has worked with Hardy Holzman Pfeiffer in New York, Il Laboratorio in Rome, Italy, Bernegger Quaglia Architects in Lugano, Switzerland, and the Paris office of Santiago Calatrava. For two summers, he worked in the field for the United States Forest Service in Oregon and Washington.
Baskervill embraces the opportunity to reach new client types, namely municipal, cultural, and civic, as well as elevate its design capabilities for clients nationally. Burt Pinnock welcomes the ability to increase his team's capacity, pursue larger projects, and expand their geographic footprint. Building on a long-standing, mutual respect for each other's values, design sensibilities, and client relationships, as well as complementary portfolios, joining forces is the next logical step.
"We are thrilled to welcome Burt and his team to the Baskervill family," said Robert Clark, P.E, president. "It's a move that makes sense for all parties, as we continue to grow, move into new geographic markets, and place an emphasis on a design culture rich in ingenuity and integrity. It also makes sense operationally, financially, and culturally, as well as directly supports our mission, vision, and values."
The official transition date is expected to be July 1st. BAM Architects will close its doors effective June 30th.
